Winter Staffing, Simplified

Every winter season is more than just peak operations — it’s an opportunity to bring new energy, global perspectives, and cultural exchange into your workplace.

Through the J1 Work & Travel Program, WETAG connects U.S. employers with motivated Argentine university students who are eager to contribute professionally while experiencing American culture firsthand. Our participants are English-tested, culturally prepared, and ready to integrate into seasonal teams from December through March.

We work alongside U.S. Department of State-designated sponsors to ensure a fully compliant, structured, and smooth process from planning to arrival.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there any cost for employers?
There is no placement or recruitment fee for employers. This is a fee-based program in which participants cover their own program, visa, and travel expenses.
Are there minimum work requirements?
Yes. Positions must be full-time and offer a minimum of 32 hours of paid employment per week (on average during the whole program), as agreed upon during the sponsor approval process.
Are employers required to provide housing?
No, employers are not required to provide housing. However, they must assist participants with housing leads in the area. WETAG also supports participants in identifying suitable housing options to ensure a smooth arrival.
What are the housing guidelines if housing is provided?
Employer-provided housing must comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Each participant must have their own bed and designated bedroom space, employment cannot be contingent upon living in employer-provided housing, transportation to work must be safe and affordable, access to grocery stores and banking services must be reasonable, and rent should not exceed 33% of the participant’s monthly gross income.
What does the sponsor vetting process involve?
Before hiring participants, the designated sponsor conducts a formal review of your organization. Employers must submit their business license and workers’ compensation policy, and complete a detailed job offer including worksite information, wage, weekly hours, benefits, housing details (if applicable), and job description. The sponsor reviews the documentation, coordinates a brief introductory call, and issues formal approval before participants can be placed.
What are the employer’s responsibilities during the program?
Employers must provide the agreed number of paid work hours, comply with wage and labor laws, notify sponsors of any placement changes, and contact sponsors immediately in case of emergencies or participant concerns.
What types of positions are not allowed?
Certain roles are excluded under program regulations, including night shifts, licensed vehicle operators, domestic help in private homes, clinical care with patient contact, adult entertainment, hazardous youth positions, commission-based roles, non-seasonal jobs, and positions requiring professional licensing.
How does the interview and hiring process work?
Employers review candidate profiles through our Talent Hub, including a one-minute video introduction, resume, English evaluation, and availability dates. Interviews may be conducted virtually, or job offers may be extended directly after review.
Is there a minimum number of participants required?
While there is no strict minimum, the program works best with at least 2–3 participants to ensure operational efficiency and program viability.
Who manages visa sponsorship and compliance?
WETAG works with U.S. Department of State-designated sponsors who handle employer vetting, documentation, DS-2019 issuance, and regulatory compliance throughout the program.
